Children's Studies Association

We are ÇocukÇA, an organization that deals with children's affairs..

ABOUT US

The Children's Studies Association, founded in 2018 and based in Diyarbakır, is a non-governmental organization. The primary goal of our association is to conduct social and cultural activities for children, enrich their lives, and support their education. Especially in 2021, due to the impact of the pandemic, we decided to expand our areas of activity with the aim of supporting children who had to stay away from education. This change aims to help children in their academic development, engage in psycho-social, cultural, and artistic activities with them, and increase equal opportunities in education. In this context, the decision to move to the Sur district has been made.

Our association works with young people, children, and adults to organize psycho-social, cultural, and artistic activities, striving to overcome barriers to education and promote equal opportunities. Within this framework, we provide support from financial, psychological, and socio-cultural perspectives while advocating for rights. Our greatest motivation is to work with children to build a hopeful future together.

Our Vision

In our journey focusing on local youth and children in the Sur region and Diyarbakır, we aim to support their access to quality and comprehensive education. We advocate for their educational rights, including financial, material, complementary, and participatory aspects, while critiquing the one-size-fits-all approach and the authoritative progression of the education system, lacking in cultural diversity. Our primary goal is to empower children in their educational journeys. Furthermore, we aim to guide them towards art, philosophy, ecology, sports, and technology, not only for academic success but also for personal development and nurturing their interests. This way, we intend to help them discover their multifaceted talents, look towards the future with hope, and make significant contributions to society.

Our Mision

Based on the fundamental right of access to quality education, we pledge to stand by children and youth from primary school to higher education. Alarming issues such as the increasing child labor, the widespread use of violent language among peers, and gender inequality in the region are the key determinants of our efforts. In this context, our primary objective as an association is to guide and support children and youth, helping them develop positive self-esteem and striving to create equal educational opportunities. Throughout this process, we aim to collaborate with children and youth living in the Sur region to support children's rights, the right to education, and youth rights. We place great importance on working together with our stakeholders to generate joint solutions, adopt effective policies for our communities, and maintain ongoing solidarity.

Our Activites

In line with the vision and mission of our association, we can list the activities we have carried out as follows:

  • Libraries and Educational Support: To promote the safe use of digital tools in Sur district, two libraries were established to support children's participation in online education. Furthermore, the "Doping Memory" online e-learning system was acquired in 2021, enabling children to continue their educational activities in the library.

  • STEM and Robotics Coding Workshops: In 2022, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) workshops introduced individuals of all ages to modules that enhance their creativity. Additionally, the Robotics Coding workshop, conducted since 2020, provided children and youth with conceptual learning of robotic coding algorithms, enabling them to design their own games and participate in problem-solving and evaluation processes.

  • Psychological Counseling and Guidance: Since the end of 2021, psychological counseling and guidance services have been provided to children, youth, and adults, offering psychosocial support.

Our association aims to create a positive change in society by providing services to children and youth in the fields of education, cultural activities, and psychosocial support.
